(Augusta, MI) The Barn Theatre is proud to present Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS. The wonderfully staged and costumed production will have you mesmerized by the time you leave the theatre. Director and choreographer, Charlie Misovye states he is happy to be bringing to the Barn Theatre audiences one of Broadways' longest running hits, ever in the history of the American musical theatre.

The spectacle of 'Cats' is a feast for the eyes

"CATS" opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway in October 1982, having come from a 17 month success in London, and immediately took New York critics and audiences by storm. Of the seven Tony awards for 1983, "CATS" was listed as Best musical, Best Musical Book, Best Musical Score, Outstanding Featured Actress, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Costume Design and Outstanding Lighting Design.

Now and Forever

Based on T.S. Eliot's 1939 collection of children's' verses, "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," "CATS" is a musical that transports the audience into a complete fantasy world that could only exist in the theatre. The cast is dressed in luxuriant whiskers, electronically glowing eyes, mask-like makeup and every variety of feline costume. The "cats" themselves go by such outlandish names as Rum Tum Tugger, Macavity, Old Deuteronomy, Jennyanydots, Munkustrap, and Grizabella the Glamour Cat (who sings the show-stopper, "Memories")

The set is designed by Richard L. Haptonstall, the lighting is designed by Monique R. Norman and the costume design is by Judy kazy-Garey. Sound is being designed by James Stephenson.

The Barn Theatre is located on M-96 West of Augusta. Performances are Tuesday through Friday at 8:30 PM, Saturday at 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and Sunday at 5:00 PM.

Tickets are $25.00 Tuesday through Thursday and $27.50 Friday through Sunday. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. For tickets call (269) 731-4121. The box is open daily from 10:00 AM -10:00 PM.

Enjoy refreshments in The Rehearsal Shed Lounge with friends before, during intermission and after the show. There is free cabaret-style show in the Rehearsal Shed Lounge after mainstage performance.
