The Barn Theatre proudly presents the gorgeous gem of a musical

Guys and Dolls

(Augusta, MI)  GUYS AND DOLLS:  Tom Wopat (from TV’s DUKES OF HAZZARD and CYBILL) rereprises his Broadway (and Barn Theatre ‘94) role of Sky Masterson at the Barn from June 22 through June 27th , and heart throb Adrian Zmed (from TV’s T. J. HOOKER and the film GREASE 2) will star as Sky Masterson during the second week of GUYS AND DOLLS from June 29 through July 4!  Danyelle Bossardet (CHESS ‘99) who played the role of Belle from the national tour of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is featured as Sarah, both weeks.  It all begins with a bet.  Nathan Detroit bets high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson that he can not persuade Save-A-Soul Missionary Sister Sarah Brown to accompany him on a trip to Cuba .  While the worldly Sky works his charms on a wary Sarah, Nathan is doing his best to stay outside the matrimonial clutches of his long-suffering fiancée, Miss Adelaide.  This New York fable bursts with the spirit of Broadway and features one of the greatest musical scores in the history of American theatre – “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “If I Were a Bell ,” “ Adelaide ’s Lament,” and “A Bushel and a Peck.”  GUYS AND DOLLS garnered eight Tony Awards, including the award for best musical and has seen two successful Broadway revivals.

Set designed by Andris Krumkalns, lighting designed by Neal M. Kerr, costume design by Goulet Bartholomew, Sound designed by James Stephenson.

Born on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin , Tom began singing and dancing in school musicals when he was 12 years old. Back in New York , he made his Broadway debut in Cy Coleman's I LOVE MY WIFE. Returning to New York in the early '90s, he starred in the Tony Award-winning musicals CITY OF ANGELS and GUYS AND DOLLS. In February, 1999, he created the role of Frank Butler in the Broadway revival of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, a role which earned him a Tony nomination and great acclaim when he reprised it at the Barn in 2002. He also played Julian Marsh in the recent successful New York revival of 42nd STREET .  Tom appeared on the hit CBS sitcom CYBILL, as well as others. He has released several albums, and can be heard reading on a number of books on tape.

SCOTT BURKELL

Scott comes back to the Barn for a 22nd summer season after another eventful year in New York spent workshopping and refining his various projects: six of one (his musical with a score by Barnie Paul Loesel), and his play OUT OF IT.  His Burkell/Loesel songs are being performed by several prominent Broadway names, like Barnie Marin Mazzie, her husband and Main Stem actor Jason Daniely, Susan Egan, and Rebecca Luker, to name but a few.  He was also on Broadway and in the First National Tour of TITANIC.  In Augusta , his career has been unforgettable.  Some favorites include Molina in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, George (opposite Marin Mazzie) in SHE LOVES ME, Felix in THE ODD COUPLE, Seymour in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, Claude in HAIR, and perhaps his all-time gem, Riff-Raff in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW.  Last season Scott played in ROCKY HORROR again, as well as Reuben in ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT, Gus in CATS, Herod in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, Mother Superior in NUNSENSE A-MEN, and an acclaimed turn as the Emcee in CABARET.  Scott dedicates his season to the memories of Jack Ragotzy as well as his own father, “the two Dads” in his life. Barn patrons will remember Brooke from her many appearances during her apprenticeship, with CAUGHT IN THE NET and PIPPIN heading the list, followed by her prominent appearance as the giant-syringe-totin’ Matron in IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY… her very first Augusta feature.  She sends love and thanks to her family, friends, and God.
